Of course, everything that loses any kind of information is a no-go. This should be completely reversible (which would probably not be the case for img->ctraw, and definitely not for the other way round.). The idea was that it should be theoretically possible to convert any format into the "superformat" without losing any information in the process. So why develop a whole new format instead of using existing ones that already has all features needed?
